Thompson announces candidacy for re-election in his new district
NAPA >> U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson has announced that he will run for reelection in the newly numbered Fourth Congressional District. The district includes all of Lake and Napa Counties and portions of Solano, Sonoma and Yolo Counties.
“I was born, grew up and have lived my entire life in the newly numbered Fourth Congressional District. The outpouring of support I’ve received is humbling and I’m looking forward to working with state and local leaders on the challenges we face,” said Thompson.
Thompson has represented all of the newly drawn and numbered Fourth Congressional District in the past. As a senior Member of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, he is well-positioned to deliver for his district. He has been endorsed by sheriffs, supervisors, mayors, councilmembers and other community leaders from all five counties in the newly numbered Fourth Congressional District.
“Congressman Thompson has been a reliable, dedicated, and ardent advocate for the people of Lake County,” said Lake County Sheriff Brian Martin.
“He has my support and endorsement.”
“Congressman Thompson knows Lake County, understands the problems of Lake County, and continuously advocates for Lake County,” said Lake County Board of Supervisors Chair Bruno Sabatier. “Not only does he represent Lake County well in Washington DC, but he has a presence here in Lake County allowing him to engage personally with local leaders.”
“I am delighted that the new congressional maps have Representative Mike Thompson representing Lake County, and now also the City of Clearlake,” said Mayor of Clearlake Dirk Slooten.
“Historically, Mike Thompson has shown that he cares deeply about Lake County. Now that he will also represent the City of Clearlake in Washington, I have no doubt that he will highlight the needs of the City and help solve the challenges faced by the City of Clearlake.”
“I am so thankful for Mike Thompson’s representation of Lakeport throughout his time in office,” said Lakeport City Councilmember Mireya Turner. “Mike works hard to address our local issues and I look forward to working with him for years to come.”
