Peregrine Auubon Society Zoom presentation

Peregrine Audubon Society Zoom Presentation will host Harry Lyons on the Geology of Clear Lake Basin on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.

The Peregrine Audubon Society Presenter, Dr.lyons is Professor Emeritus at Yuba College, a resident of Lake County for over 40 years, and an authority on the natural history of Clear Lake. This evening he will be discussing the fascinating geology of the Clear Lake basin. Some folks travel to Lake County to marvel at the variety of young igneous rocks, crumble soils derived from Jurassic muddy sandstones, and scramble up slopes of serpentine. What is the big draw? Lyons answers that the terrain around Clear Lake reflects the geological history of California and the World. He condenses the lessons of experts in tying the region’s geological history to actions that have occurred over millions of years deep under the Pacific Ocean. This will be a fascinating presentation by a very entertaining speaker.
