WOMEN’S CIRCLE CREATED IN WILLITS
As the coronavirus pandemic drags on into the new year, Claudia Wenning, PHD NM, has created a group for women to safely gather and process the last two years’ events, let go of the overwhelm and create a new direction together.
The Women’s Circle will meet every other week, beginning Jan. 29 for a total of four sessions.
The circle will meet at Quantum Level Health Studio, which is an open and airy space. Wenning explained COVID safety protocols will be in place. Specifically, participants will be spaced out, masks will be worn, hand sanitizer will be available and an air purifier will be in use. Participants will be limited to eight per session; Wenning mentioned adding a second group if necessary.
After living with fear of the virus and in isolation for so long, Wenning explained some might not know how to process what happened and find ways to connect. She said, “I do believe we all need connection.” Aside from processing what happened, Wenning said, “Let’s figure out what we want to see happening in the future. Because, going back to normal, that ship has sailed. Which is an incredible moment of opportunity because now we can reflect upon what we want the new normal to be, at least in our very small circles and then we will see what happens in society. It is actually a moment of empowerment, if you want to look at it this way.”
Wenning believes that grieving about what has been lost should occur. The time of meeting with other people without thought has been lost. She stated, “That needs to be resected and honored, that is a very valid emotion, we all should allow ourselves to look at, we have lost something.” She believes that it can be rebuilt and created in the future, with an
awareness and consciousness that was not present pre-pandemic, perhaps being more selective about when and how we meet with people.
Aside from honoring grief, the Women's Circle is intended to honor all emotions that have come up in the last few years and give space for the uplifting emotions. Wenning explained that participants will set the pace of discussions, depending on what participants are ready to share. She expects there to be alignment of emotions expressed between women in the circle. She stated, “These are all archetypal emotions we are going through…. these are all fundamental emotions we humans all share.”
She believes it is important to support each other and allow these feelings to be processed, rather than trying to avoid them, because that is not healthy. Wenning said, “We have to give space for emotional expression.”
In addition to giving space for emotional processing, Wenning said it's important to look at what can be done for the physical being to be as resilient as possible. Individuals should examine what they can do to support their own immune system.
For some, more sleep is needed, others' diet needs to be examined. She recommends identifying three areas for improvement and monitoring how those changes make the individual feel.
For more information or to sign up, call Wenning at (707) 371-6104 or email her at claudia@claudiawenning.com. The first session is Jan. 29 at 5:30 p.m. Wenning stated that if a group of six to eight women wanted to meet at a different time, she may be able to accommodate that.
