Final election results released

-

This week, the Mendocino County Elections Office released the final tally of votes cast in the June 7 Primary Election.

According to the report posted June 28, ballots from 22,248 residents were received, meaning that about 42 percent of the county's registered voters cast one.

Katrina Bartolomie, Mendocino County assessor-county clerk-recorder and registrar of voters, reported in an email June 20 that the process of counting all the votes this election was “taking more time than usual because this ballot is so large and we are short-staffed.”

As of June 28, the results posted online by the Mendocino County Elections Office had Sheriff Matt Kendall receiving 14,699 votes (85.52 percent), and write-in candidate Trent James receiving 2,488 votes (14.48 percent).

Another countywide race was for Mendocino County superintendent of schools. The final results have challenger Nicole Glentzer receiving 10,769 votes (55.35 percent) and incumbent Michelle Hutchins receiving 8,686 (44.65 percent).

Two Mendocino County supervisors were also up for re-election — 5th District Supervisor Ted Williams and 3rd District Supervisor John Haschak — and both earned another term.

Williams received 4,191 votes (82.52 percent) while John Redding received 888 votes (17.48 percent); Haschak received 2,823 votes (71.72 percent) while Clay Romero received 1,113 (28.28 percent). Three other countywide seat holders ran uncontested, and early results had all earning 100 percent of the votes: As of June 20, Assessor-clerk-recorder Katrina Bartolomie had 16,811 votes; Auditor-controller/treasurertax-collector Chamise Cubbison had 15,286 votes, and District Attorney C.
