Elizabeth Blanche Culp "Betty" 1929-2023

-

On January 31, 2023, our loving aunt and friend, Elizabeth Blanche (“Betty”) Culp, age 94, formerly of Willits, passed away peacefully in the loving care of the Living Oak assisted living facility in Santa Rosa. Betty was the second of seven siblings born to Walter Culp and Lodean (Mayenschein) Culp on September 1, 1928, in Thorp, Wisconsin. After graduation from high school, Betty continued her education at Andrews University, and became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, working in Chicago before moving to California in 1962. She had varied interests, including cooking, reading, playing checkers and cards, and traveling. Her visits to Wisconsin were enjoyed by her family.

Betty was also a devoted member of the Willits Seventh-day Adventist Church. Her religion was very important to her. The Holy Bible, given to her in 1956 by her mother, sat on a nearby table as she passed.

Betty is survived by 15 nieces and nephews who loved her dearly: Vicki Vlies, Monica Steber, Robert Vlies; Hilman Culp, Jr., Edward Culp, Scott Vlies, Bruce Hafeman, Kenneth Culp, Daniel Hafeman, Mark Culp, David Culp, Kendall Vlies, Michael Culp, Jane Van Laanen, Peter Culp, and all of their spouses, significant others, and families. She is further survived by great nieces and nephews, too many to name, and all of whom were special to Betty.

Betty was proceeded in death by her parents, Walter Culp and Lodean (Mayenschein) Culp; three brothers, Hilman Walter Culp, Sr., Thomas Edward Culp, and Conard Clinton Culp; three sisters, Violet Pauline Hafeman, Juanita Ruth Vlies, and Caroline Cecile Culp; and a niece, Carolyn Miller.

Friends and family members are invited to attend a graveside service at 12 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023, at the Fernwood Cemetery, 301 Tennessee Valley Rd, Mill Valley, CA 94941.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing in Betty’s memory.
