CERF Mendocino County community meeting is tonight

-

The Community Economic Resilience Fund (CERF) is a state-wide program to promote a sustainable and equitable recovery from the economic distress of COVID-19.

CERF will distribute funds across 13 regions to support inclusive planning and implementation of projects to identify and create accessible, highquality jobs in sustainable industries as the state transitions to a carbon neutral economy.

North Coast Opportunities (NCO) is responsible for community outreach for the Redwood Region which consists of Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino Counties and Tribal Lands. Our region's CERF initiative is called Redwood Region RISE (Resilience Inclusive Sustainable Economy) and residents from Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino counties and Tribal Lands are invited to participate in our first upcoming regional community conversations.

The purpose of these community meetings is to provide an overview of what CERF is and how the CERF planning grant may support local, county, and regional economies.

The goal is to listen and learn what barriers and opportunities are seen in each county, to record those priorities and then bring forward as a whole region.

When contacted, Roseanne Ibarra, NCO Director of Community Wellness commented, “CERF is providing an opportunity for counties, municipalities, businesses and tribes to assess where they might be in respect to economic development over the next 10 years and to have a sound understanding of what resources are available or will be needed to achieve their economic goals.” Ibarra added, “It's imperative that the Redwood Region and the State of California secure input and feedback from persons from all demographics so that the voices and responses reflect citizens from every walk of life.”

Mendocino County's meeting will be held at North Coast Opportunities Large Conference Room, 413 N. State St., Ukiah, on Sept. 28 from 5:307:30 p.m. The Zoom registration link is: https://bit. ly/3pefrot

Stipends and gift cards will be available based on eligibility.
