Don't blame forest fires on climate change

-

To the Editor:

Climate definition: The composite or generally prevailing weather conditions of a region, as temperature, air pressure, humidity, precipitation, sunshine, cloudiness, and winds, throughout the year, averaged over a series of years.

Weather: The state of the atmosphere at a place and time as regards to heat, dryness, sunshine, wind, rain, etc...

Weather and climate definition: Weather is the condition of the atmosphere at a particular place over a short period of time, whereas climate refers to the weather pattern, using statistical data, of a place over a long enough period to yield meaningful averages. Climatology studies climatic change and is an atmospheric science.

What it takes to have a fire: A fuel source that can burn, a means for lighting the fuel source, such as matches, lightning, and fireworks, and oxygen is needed to sustain the fire.

Climate isn't the cause of fires; it's simply the measurements of the atmospheric conditions at the time a fire exists. So, what is it that can be changed? When you look at the definition of climate, it's an accumulation of statistics, data, and other scientific information, including the concentrations of particulates that exist in our atmosphere, including CO2. Before you say, “reduce the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere,” please educate yourself regarding the amount and effects of CO2. If you want to understand what climate and weather are, spend some time listening to experts who have Phds and who make a living studying this science. I am not an expert, but I am informed because I have spent many, many hours listening to these experts, and Joe Biden and Mrs. Pelosi are not among them, nor is President Trump.

Could we put an end to blaming forest fires on climate change and look at the things we can control and change, such as forest management?

Many have intentionally divided this country. They enabled a radical right via a “southern strategy,” making everything a fight or a lawsuit, and treating every political interaction as war with no prisoners. Refusing to act on proposed legislation to create emergencies, promoting racial or political street conflict, instilling victimhood based on supposed discrimination against supporters, vilifying immigrants and science, and blatant mendacity round out this formula to foment raw anger and chaos. Should folks like that be in control, or is this Germany between 1929 and 1933 with its kind of “law and order” just around the corner? Have you even thought about what law and order is? Sonora everyone there was nothing to worry about.

Once again, global warming is Newsom's scapegoat for decades of mismanagement of our forests by the environmentalists and politicians. “New Green Deal” means more power outages and fires.

Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize. How is the mainstream media going to place a negative spin on this one? At least he accomplished something and deserves it.

Anyone with an ounce of decency should feel empathy for Biden. The elderly abuse the Democrats are inflicting on him is criminal. I have seen dementia, and Biden shows classic signs of it.

Policemen are bushwhacked. BLM celebrates. “Professional sports” support them? HUH?

Thomas Neiderer Sonora county? No. We need a strong conservative with solid values and proven leadership. Karl Rodefer is that candidate. I respectfully ask that Trump voters also vote to retain Supervisor Karl Rodefer. David Wynne
