Vote for Joe Biden
To the Editor:
The United States has always been a land offering opportunity and hope for a better life. So many immigrants have come here with hope for improved circumstances beginning with Alexander Hamilton and including my four grandparents and my mother.
The US has been a positive, uplifting, generous country giving help to others when asked or when needed. We have given money, materials, food, moral support and a hand up so many times in the past.
How have we become a country the world sees as a nation manifesting negativity, greed, self interest and hate? The “haves” have much more, the “have nots” have much less, the middle class is hanging on by their fingernails, and division, mistrust, hate and violence is increasing. This is not the America I grew up in. This is not the America in which the precept “work hard and you can make a better life for yourself and your family” is prevalent. This is not the America our enthusiastic, energetic, hopeful, talented young people want to inherit, and it is not the America we older people should leave them.
So please, can we make America great again not with hate, greed, ego and division, but with kindness, generosity, humility and unity of purpose?
Please vote for Joe Biden, a man who has suffered great personal loss, who understands the pain so many Americans are currently experiencing, who has come from humble beginnings and has worked his way up. He is hopeful and positive and has the people skills to reestablish relationships with leaders of friendly nations and to be wary of the dictators and autocrats in the world. Cris Barsanti
