This is not normal Another haiku

I have to admit that I'm completely flabbergasted Trump is actually competitive in multiple states. The guy who has botched the pandemic response (and, therefore, tanked the economy), who calls military and veterans “losers and suckers,” who clearly has no interest in anything other than his own advancement and considers his cult followers “disgusting people” – glad he doesn't have to shake hands with them. The guy who is just as likely to tell a lie as to tell the truth when he opens his mouth.
This is borderline inexplicable-mass hysteria. An incompetent narcissistic bully commanding unquestioning loyalty from millions, chanting “build that wall, lock her up, fill that seat!” A “president” who won't commit to a peaceful transition of power if he loses the election (we'll have to see, he says the only way he can lose is if the election is rigged).
Nothing that anyone can say, from his own family or former functionaries (“disgruntled employees”, why are there so many?) can sway the blind devotion of his acolytes. Doesn't the fact that there are so many criminal former henchmen make you think twice about his moral compass? Doesn't the sheer volume of nasty press (of course, if you only watch Fox News you might not be aware of it, try watching anything else for a bit) make you feel something might be wrong? It can't all be “fake news” or the “Deep State,” can it? What's the limit? Again, inexplicable, and very troubling for the future of our democracy. Please stop and think – this isn't normal, this is not what we are, or, at least, what we should be.
