Debate shows Trump's character
To the Editor:
I'm still recovering from the presidential “debate” last week.
If I ever had any question regarding President Trump's character – from both a personal and professional perspective – crystal-clear answers emerged during his 90-minute diatribe. I will try to lay out the facts as I see them.
Trump is a bully. His physical demeanor (raising his voice, waving his arms, facial expressions, interruptions while others are speaking, etc.) are designed to draw attention away from his competition and to himself.
Trump is an “alrightnik,” defined as someone who has succeeded. i.e., done “all right,” and he explicitly shows this trait via boasting, ostentation and crude mannerisms.
He flamboyantly parades his money, he lacks modesty, he is extremely sensitive even when criticized by his supporters who have good intent, and he is a showoff.
Trump may be envied, but he cannot be admired, for he lacks refined taste, empathy for others and spiritual values. Above all, he is not a learned man nor indeed a devotee of learning as were some of his predecessors. To wit:
Woodrow Wilson was perhaps our most educated president. He held a PH.D. in history and political science from Johns Hopkins University.
Bill Clinton is a graduate of Georgetown University and Yale Law School.
George W. Bush is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Business School.
John F. Kennedy was a graduate of Harvard College. At Harvard, he majored in international relations.
Richard Nixon was a graduate of Whittier College and Duke University School of Law.
Barack Obama is one of the most educated presidents. He is a graduate of Occidental College, Columbia University and Harvard Law School. While at Columbia, he majored in political science. He graduated magna cum laude as a juris doctor from Harvard Law School.
Trump is a “very stable genius” indeed!
