Brandon's mailer shows desperation

-

To the Editor:

It is crunch time in the election season. Some candidates are desperate. It is to be expected, and that is what is happening in the district 5 race for supervisor. Jaron Brandon is desperate.

Jaron has conducted an obviously expensive postal onslaught over the past 5 days. The first is interesting. “From our district” is proudly displayed yet there are questions about where exactly Jaron lives. The trifold mailer is nothing more than progressive pap. Earth to Jaron, people who know who they are have no trouble putting their “beliefs in a box.”

The third piece of mail I received from Jaron exposed possibly the last arrow in his quiver. It appears he's going all in on attempting to paint the overspending of the last director of the Tuolumne County Economic Development Agency on to his opponent, Karl Rodefer. The mailer has a number of seemingly damning quotes, that to the casual voter might show that not only did Rodefer condone Larry Cope's financial indiscretions, but he liked to have Larry buy him lunch, and often. It's a nifty piece of nasty disinformation that Jaron no doubt learned at the feet of his friends at Indivisible. For those not familiar with Indivisible, visit Keeptuolumnecountysafe.com.

All but one quote was from 2018, which renders them irrelevant. Rodefer was not affiliated with the TCEDA until 2019, when he, as newly elected chairman of the Board of Supervisors, put himself on the TCEDA board specifically to shut it down. If Rodefer is responsible for whatever malfeasance occurred before then, every other supervisor, and every member of the Sonora City Council are equally culpable. The quote from Councilman Hawkins and Garaventa, not to mention Such, are quite heart wrenching. It would seem appropriate for the city council to find candidates with more backbone.
