Not over yet

To the Editor:

It is truly a “Christmas miracle.”

Can you believe that the world of science, by working as a team, ignoring all outside interference, has brought us the gift of life? They have given us not one, but two vaccines of proven efficacy.

If you are reading this, then it is a time to celebrate. Why? Because you are still alive. But, it may be many months before we will receive this gift. So, with hospitals out of beds, it is also time to be extra careful.

Unfortunately, too many folks got on the “naughty” list. They hung out with the wrong crowd, listened to those who only cared about themselves, and failed to comply with state and local protective measures. The result is over 325,000 Americans succumbing to the orange plague.

A recent estimate from honest and trusted officials — “550,000 Americans may die by April.” (Compare that to 441,000 Americans killed in all of World War II.)

As we still observe record numbers of daily cases and deaths, we are told It did/does not have to happen. Almost all epidemiologists agree, “80 to 90% of these deaths were, and are, preventable.”

And the golden rule of the Christmas season — “If you are satisfied with what you have, then you have enough to

share.” (ATCAA, Interfaith, Sonora Area Foundation, ASPCA, Meals on Wheels, etc...)

For extra credit points: Call your parents, grandparents and/ or children and check in on how they are doing. Also, call/email and say hello to friends and neighbors.

Bottom line — “It ain't over till it's over.” This one ain't over yet — it won't be for a few more months. Do your part — keep the masks on, be smart, be patient and be considerate of others. Happy holidays.
