To the Editor:
I am concerned. You might be, too. I invite you to learn more and get involved, as we need your help. The important, historical gateway to Yosemite on Highway 120 is being threatened and may be lost forever if the proposed Terra Vi development along with
Yosemite Under Canvas are permitted to be built. The Terra Vi development, approximately 5 miles from Yosemite, could change the pristine nature of the area forever. We cannot let that happen. History tells us the building of Hetch Hetchy Dam, which flooded an entire Valley similar to Yosemite Valley, resulted in its loss forever, all done in the name of progress.
A similar comparison, the development of Terra Vi and YUC are not good for Yosemite or the entire 120 corridor. Thus, we all need to band together to stop another travesty from repeating itself. Increased development means increased destruction of the environment and risk to many lives. A lure of money should not be enough to destroy forever something so grand as the 120 Yosemite gateway. These developments, 18 miles from Groveland, will pull already limited services of fire, ambulance and sheriff away from Groveland in emergencies. Short-term profits are not more important than the beauty of nature with all of its miracles. We of Savesawmillmountain.org are fighting for what should not be built. We are fighting for what money should not be able to purchase. Please join us, we promise, the fight will be hard, the road will be long, but the rewards will be great. We must prevail against the developers and Tuolumne County. Contact us, many generations are counting on all of us.
We have a place for you in this fight.
