Georgia Stokes passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Dec. 20 at her daughter’s home in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Georgia was born to Frank and Marie Nance on Jan. 26, 1927, in Amarillo, Texas, and moved with the family to California as a child. She married Robin Mooney in December of 1945 in Reno, Nevada. Robin and Georgia lived in Humboldt County in their early years of marriage, and during this time the couple had three children. They later moved to the Nevada City/grass Valley area. In 1965, the family moved to Jamestown, and Georgia worked in Sonora for the USDA’S Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor’s Office until she retired.

Georgia was an avid golfer and was a member of the Phoenix Lake Ladies Golf Club. She was also an accomplish­ed quilter, winning numerous awards for her quilts including a blue ribbon at the California State Fair. After her divorce, Georgia married Robert Stokes. They loved to travel and traveled across the U.S. and the North West with their cat, Frosty, in their RV. After Robert retired, they would spend their Winters in Tucson and return to their home in Jamestown in the spring.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stokes, and grandchild­ren Desiree’ Thomas and John David Maldonado.

She is survived by her sister, Virginia Mcrae, of Groveland; her former husband, Robin Mooney, of Oakville, Washington; and her children, Mike (Clydeen) Mooney, of Rochester, Washington, Kathryn Maldonado (John Pickhinke), of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Jill (Ike) Brewster, of Springtown, Texas; stepchildr­en, Philip (Cheryl) Stokes, of Wallace, and Marion (Hawk) Huston, of Concho, Arizona; grandchild­ren Mike Mooney Jr., Tori Mooney, Todd Mooney, Tiffany Thomas, Ian Thomas, Leslie Johnson and Bodie (Jodi) Brewster; 19 great-grandchild­ren; and two greatgreat-grandchild­ren.

No service is planned at this time, and in lieu of flowers the family asks that you gift a favorite charity in her name or plant a tree in her memory.

SENER — Louise Vivian Sener, 107, of Sonora, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Adventist Health Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangemen­ts.
