Four new COVID-19 cases in Tuolumne County,
Thetuolumne County Public Health Department counted four new community cases of COVID-19 and no new inmate cases at Sierra Conservation Center outside Jamestown on Friday.
New community cases in the county were identified as a girl age 17 or younger; and two women and one man in their 60s.
As of Friday, the county had tallied 3,950 total coronavirus cases since the pandemic began, with 2,536 community cases and 1,414 SCC inmate cases.
There were 47 active cases and two Covidpositive individuals were hospitalized in the county as of Friday. A total of 59 individuals have died of COVID-19 since the coronavirus pandemic began last year.
The county remained in the state’s purple tier for widespread risk of coronavirus infection, with a case rate of 10.9 per 100,000 people and a testing positive rate of 4.1%.
Between 1,000 and 1,100 COVID-19 vaccine doses for Tuolumne County that were delayed by extreme winter weather conditions across the nation last week have now been delivered, Dore Bietz, coordinator of the county’s Office of Emergency Services, said Friday morning.
The Public Health Department held a vaccine clinic Thursday, administering 990 first doses of vaccine. A state vaccine dashboard updated Friday showed 13,801 vaccine doses had been administered intuolumne County.the county’s estimated population is 54,660.
Anyone 65 or older who has not received a vaccine or been scheduled for vaccination is urged to call the county Public Health Department department at 533-7440.
