Tuolumne County records three new COVID-19 cases
Tuolumne County had three new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, with none of those involving inmates at the Sierra Conservation Center state prison outside Jamestown.
The three new community cases were identified as one girl and one boy, both age 17 or younger; and a woman in her 50s.
Tuolumne County’s daily coronavirus case rate has dropped more than 50% since last week to 5.2 per 100,000 people, with a testing positive rate of 2.1%, county Public Health staff saidtuesday. that’s good enough for the county to move from the purple tier into the less restrictive red tier, but the numbers must stay as low or lower for two consecutive weeks before the county can move down.
As of Wednesday, the county had tallied 3,966 total coronavirus cases since the pandemic began, with 2,551 community cases and 1,415 SCC inmate cases. SCC inmate cases have accounted for 35.6% of the county’s cases. there were 29 active cases and one Covidpositive individual was hospitalized in the county as of Wednesday.
A total of 59 county individuals in the county have died of COVID-19 since the pandemic began last year.
Anyone 65 or older who has not received a vaccine or been scheduled for vaccination is urged to call the county Public Health Department department at (209) 533-7440.

Testing
When you should get tested: Five days after travel or close contact with others outside of your household; as soon as possible if experiencing symptoms; and/or every 14 to 28 days if regularly working with the public.

•Thetuolumne County Public Health Department continues to distribute COVID-19 vaccine doses to people in Phase 1A and Phase 1B-tier 1 of a state vaccine distribution plan, for individuals 65 and older as well as education workers, childcare workers, and emergency services workers.
