Tuolumne, Calaveras counties tally most new cases in single day so far this month
Tuolumne and Calaveras counties each reported their highest number of new COVID-19 cases for a single day this month on Wednesday.
Tuolumne County’s eight new cases on Wednesday were the most since nine were reported on Feb. 27, while Calaveras County’s seven new cases were its largest one-day increase since having seven on Feb. 8.
The new cases brought Tuolumne County’s total since the pandemic began to 4,003, of which 1,416 were prison inmates at Sierra Conservation Center outside of Jamestown.
None of the new cases reported in tuolumne County on Wednesday were SCC inmates, neither were any of the nine reported on Feb. 27.
New cases intuolumne County on Wednesday were identified as a man in his 30s, two women in their 40s, two women and one man in their 60s, a man in his 70s, and a man in his 80s.
There were 13 active cases intuolumne County as of Wednesday, with one person still hospitalized.
Calaveras County had 1,958 total cases, with 12 active and none hospitalized on Wednesday.

Testing
When you should get tested: Five days after travel or close contact with others outside of your household; as soon as possible if experiencing symptoms; and/or every 14 to 28 days if regularly working with the public.

• Optum Serv state testing sites: the Mother Fairgrounds, 220 Southgate Drive, Sonora — 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; and Groveland Youth Center, 18950 Highway 120 — 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays.

Vaccinations
•The tuolumne County Public Health Department continues to distribute COVID-19 vaccine doses to people in Phase 1A and 1B of a state vaccine distribution plan, individuals 55 and older, people 16 to 64 in high-risk groups, as well as foster and resource parents, education workers, childcare workers, emergency services workers, and food and agriculture workers.
