Local officials anticipate change in metrics for determining case rate
A change in the criteria used to determine the COVID-19 case rate is expected sometime this week and would impact small counties like Tuolumne, the county Public Health Department said in an update on Monday.
What the change would mean for Tuolumne County’s tier assignment under the state’s Blueprint of a Safer Economy reopening system was unclear, but the department said it would provide more information when that happens.
Tuolumne County remained in the orange tier for moderate risk of coronavirus infection on Monday, while Calaveras remained in a red tier for substantial risk. The yellow tier is the next down from orange and considered the least amount of risk.
There were also four new cases reported in Tuolumne County from Saturday to Monday, while Calaveras had five.
The new cases in Tuolumne County were identified as a boy under age 18, a woman between 18 and 29, and two women in their 60s.
No COVID-19 positive cases were hospitalized in Tuolumne County as of Monday, though one coronavirus-positive individual was hospitalized in Calaveras.

Testing
When you should get tested: Five days after travel or close contact with others outside of your household; as soon as possible if experiencing symptoms; and/or every 14 to 28 days if regularly working with the public.
