Hospital hosts walk-in vaccination clinics

-

Adventist Health Sonora will host walk-in clinics throughout the next several weeks for people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and help put an end to the pandemic.

A total of 72 people were hospitalized from Aug. 1-22 at Adventist Health Sonora, 64 of whom were unvaccinated. Of those, 19 required intensive care, 16 were on ventilators, and all but one were unvaccinated.

There have been 87 deaths from COVID-19 in the county since the start of the pandemic early last year, including 14 between Aug. 11 and Thursday, with only two of those being people who were fully vaccinated — a man in his 80s with underlying health conditions and a woman in her 90s.

“The vaccine is safe and available for everyone ages 12 and above,” the hospital stated. “It is nearly 100% effective against severe disease and death. If you have not yet been vaccinated, please consider getting the vaccine to protect others and help prevent the potential for even more dangerous variants of the virus from emerging.”

Adventist Health Sonora is offering Pfizer first and/or second doses for ages 12 and up, as well as Moderna first and/or second doses for ages 18 and up.
