There are multiple ways to help victims of the Washington Fire, which broke out Thursday, burned 100 acres, and destroyed at least 18 structures, including three houses, five mobile homes, five motorhomes, two garages, one commercial building, and one outbuilding.

This is a partial list of fundraisers and events planned to help displaced families and individuals and other victims of the Washington Fire as of Tuesday afternoon:

• A Children of the Washington Fire fundraising event is being organized by Ronald Hamilton, the Mother Lode Fairgrounds board of directors vice president, and the nonprofit Sonora Area Foundation.

The event — Operation Washington Fire Relief — will feature live music by Stompbox and food prepared by Rockin’ Bar-b Authentic Texas BBQ of Sonora. The event is set from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, on the grass at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds Livestock Barns. Organizers say the event is approved by Tuolumne County Public Health. Tickets cost $15. Children 5 years old and younger are free.

Tickets will be available at Sonora High, Sonora Elementary and Jamestown Elementary schools, or by calling Hamilton at (209) 588-3848. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.rockintexasbbq.com.

• Gofundme pages have been set up to raise money for at least four different families displaced by the Washington Fire. There’s a page for the Caswell family, organized by Sandra Lattin of Sonora, at www.gofundme.com/f/caswellfamily-loses-everything.

• Marney Mercado of Sonora has set up a page for her grandfather, lifelong Tuolumne County resident Stewart Hatler, at www. gofundme.com/f/stewart-hatlerloses-home-in-devastating-fire.

• Amanda and Owen English have a page set up for their family at www.gofundme.com/f/myfamily-lost-everything-in-the-fire. And Aimee Shcultz has a page set up for the Sturzenacker family at www.gofundme.com/f/washington-fire-demolishes-sturzenackerhome.

• Chuck Limburg has set up a page online to raise money for the Shaw family, who lost all their belongings in the Washington Fire. Limburg’s page to help the Shaws is at https://bit.ly/3mm3bns.

• The Rawhide Saloon has been accepting donations of clothing and blankets this week. Someone was scheduled to collect barrels set up for donated clothing and bedding Tuesday evening.

• The Sonora Area Foundation is also accepting donations for other charities and agencies who are helping Washington Fire victims.

• There’s also a Facebook page called Washington Fire Community Support where people can share information about clothing and other donations, as well as fundraising events.

People with the Sierra-delta Chapter of the American Red Cross, who have been helping people displaced by the Washington Fire, could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
