Secure our borders

To the Editor:

We need to secure our borders now. The unchecked flow of illegals across our southern border and other points needs to be stopped. These uncontrolled borders present a major point of vulnerability. It is an increasing threat to our national security. What is going on at our southern border is inexcusable.

The events in Afghanistan over the last several weeks have changed everything. Mistakes and bad decisions there have endangered us here. ISIS K has surfaced and attacked and killed our people. They were not just a threat to our troops taking part in the evacuation process. They are a threat to the world and our homeland.

If illegals can just walk across our border, so can our enemies. If the cartels can take advantage of border crossing points being clogged with thousands of illegals streaming through tying up border agents to allow them to move more dangerous illegals, drugs, and weapons across at other points, so can our enemies. If the cartels can bring across caravans of illegals packing in drugs and weapons, our enemies can bring across materials for terrorist attacks.

Mistakes and bad decisions have created the immigration crisis and disaster at the border. It is now a serious and growing national security problem. ISIS K and Al Qaeda are coming, and we cannot make it easy for them. It is time to wake up, do the right thing and secure our borders.

The immigration and border crisis is due to the dereliction and just plain incompetence on the part of our elected representatives, or is intentional in design to facilitate some political agenda.

Write, email, or call Senators Feinstein and Padilla, and President Biden, and tell them to do their jobs and secure our borders. Jim Brown
