Clyde Moses Awad

On the morning of August 30, 2021, Clyde

Awad of Sonora, died peacefully at home of vascular dementia. Family was by his side.

Clyde was born in Malden, Massachuse­tts, to Hazel and Moses Awad in 1924. Clyde graduated from Malden High School. He then joined the US Army and served during WW2 in the European Theater, 69th Infantry Division. Clyde attended Tufts University and graduated in 1950 with a degree in chemistry/ metallurgy. He worked for more than forty years in the semiconduc­tor industry, starting with the maker of the first Germanium Diodes ever made to Silicon Microproce­ssors. Clyde proudly worked for Raytheon East Coast and Raytheon Semiconduc­tor in Mt. View, California, then returned to Raytheon East Coast, working as a site manager inspector in Silicon Valley semiconduc­tor factories. Monolithic Memories in Santa Clara hired him as Quality Assurance Manager. When Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) bought the firm, they retained Clyde in the same position until he retired in the early 1990s.

Always interested in the world around him, Clyde had many hobbies after retirement; constructi­on, electrical, plumbing, computer, and he could fix almost anything. Automobile­s were another passion of his, proven by the many different cars he owned in his life.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law June and Robert Plummer, brothers-in-law Donald Malcolm and Albert Amico (all of Massachuse­tts); several members of Julia’s family including her parents Leslie and Grace Joselyn of Sonora, and in Monterey, her sister and brother-in-law Christine and Antoine Crivello, and brother Peter Joselyn.

Clyde leaves behind a multitude of family and good friends. His wife Julia Awad of Sonora, Julia’s sister Karen (Ken) Hawkins, of Monterey, and her brother Alan (Donna) Joselyn of Florida. Clyde is also survived by his sisters Jill Amico and Diane Malcolm, both of Massachuse­tts, son John Pitsker, daughters Corina (Steven) Hassen of Sonora, Veronika (Gary) Lane, of Magalia, and son Eric (Melody) Pitsker of Citrus Heights.

Clyde is also survived by 9 grandchild­ren; David (Tiffany) Pitsker, Aaron (Dakota) Pitsker, and Amy Pitsker; Sharla Lane and Lewis (Samantha) Lane; Kristi (Jake) Crichton; Hailey (William) Hassen, Ryan Hassen, and Colton Hassen; 9 great grandchild­ren; Kevin, Aubrey, Amelia, Eleanor, Gabriel, Gavin, Nicole, Annabelle and Grace; and his many nieces, nephews, grandniece­s, and grandnephe­ws.

A memorial will be held at Terzich & Wilson Funeral Home, 225E Rose Ave., Sonora, at 2:00 p.m Saturday, September 18. Burial will follow at Mountain Shadow Cemetery, Lyons Bald Mountain Road in Sonora
