Ruby Florence Burgess

Ruby Florence (Castle) Burgess, a lifelong Tuolumne County resident, passed away at Avalon Care Center in Sonora. She was 95.
Ruby was born July 7, 1926, in Angels Camp to Darling and Alice Castle. Ruby moved to Sonora to live with her sister, Lodie Menzes, when she was 10, following the death of her parents. She attended Sonora Elementary and Sonora Union high schools.
Ruby is survived by sons Ron (Mary Doda), Brian (Jeanie Hall) and Dan (spouse Paula); seven grandchildren, Rebecca Loflin (spouse Ken), Matthew, Neil, Ali, Jared (spouse Tiffani), Meghan Lamberton (spouse Ryan) and Lucas (spouse Kara); and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, grandson Taylor Burgess, and her husband, Elmer Burgess.
At Ruby’s request, there will be no service. Ruby loved to spend summers at the Old Melones Reservoir Camp, cooking many fish frys for visitors. She also loved to water ski in the morning when the water was like glass. “Perfect conditions” as quoted by Dan. Some locals from those days will totally understand.

TOWNSEND — Stephanie Anne Townsend, 70, of Sonora, died Saturday, Sept. 11, at Adventist Health Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
VOIGT — Gail Voigt, 76, died Monday, Sept. 6, at his home in Twain Harte. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling cremation arrangements.
