COVID treatment?

-

To the Editor: Recently, the UD has used a lot of ink on the rise in COVID cases in the county.

I was struck by the comment of a doctor that said that he watches people die and can't do anything about it. I wonder what treatments were tried to save the patients?

I have a brother and sisterin-law that both caught COVID. They were given some antibiotics, no más. The most dangerous pandemic in 100 years and that's it!? They suffered through it, but survived.

I've kept a close eye on this issue, like a fanatic, since March of 2020. There are many credible studies and trials that support treatments that have had great results, but the “powers that be” avoid them and take every opportunity to discredit them. Why?

Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is an old, cheap and safe medication. There have been many studies and trials by virologists and universities that indicate that, if taken within the first four days of infection, there is a 99% success rate. There have been similar trials with ivermectin (IVM) with as good or better results than HCQ. Even St. Fauci said, in 2005, that HCQ was effective against these types of virus.

I have a friend that was diagnosed with COVID on a Tuesday. By Friday, she was in terrible shape. She took a dose of HCQ. Within hours, she was feeling much better and by the next day she was at 85% of normal. By Monday, 100%. I have several other acquaintances that had similar results with HCQ or ivermectin.

The question is: Are the hospitals using or offering these treatments? If not, why not? They are cheap and any possible side effects are minor and surely beats dying of COVID.
