Ignorance prevails
To the Editor:
Ignorance is the lack of knowledge. Stupidity is rejecting knowledge. “Now that's something to think about,” as radio owner Randolph Holder would say.
Rage sells, it boosts ratings. Millions of true believers are locked into the right-wing media black hole of disinformation, in which they do not examine both sides of an issue. They want political infotainment, not straight news.
“No one is dumb who are curious. The people who don't ask questions remain clueless throughout their lives,” (Neil Degrasse Tyson).
The select congressional committee to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection has revealed Steve Bannon and other Trump minions had a plan to overturn the 2020 election results. The GOP right-wing media has largely ignored this investigation.
Trump has convinced his followers that truth is a lie, or fake news, whenever he does not like the truth, or it makes him look bad.
Republicans have taken up the slogan, “Let's go, Brandon,” a euphemism for “F*** Joe Biden.” Classy.
Republicans, backed by billionaires and unlimited resources, are suing Democrats, who have limited resources to pay legal expenses. The GOP has sued the New York Times. Devin Nunes has sued Rachel Maddow. This blatant effort will limit free speech if the conservative-stacked Supreme Court allows it.
Violent anti-vaccine protestors are disrupting school board meetings with threats to pro-mandate school board members. Election officials are receiving death threats and threats of violence.
Our democracy is hanging by a thread.
