Howard James Sumerlin

1943 - 2021

On Nov. 5, 2021, beloved husband and father Howard James Sumerlin Sr., 78, peacefully and in his own home, was called to be with the Lord.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sumerlin (Red, Josie) and one son, Howard James Sumerlin Jr. (Jamie).

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 41 years, Mrs. Robin Sumerlin, of Sonora; his daughter, Donna Sumerlin Means, of Mcdonough, Georgia; a grandson, Christopher James Jennings, and a granddaughter, Andrea Dawn Stockton; three great-grandchildren, Kolton, Logan and Laci, all of Barnesville, Georgia; also a sister-in-law he absolutely adored, Autumn Allan, also of Sonora; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Heaven has gained a most beautiful angel.

Other than with his family, Howard spent his life doing what he loved; driving a truck for more than 45 years. He also loved his pets, dogs, Ed and Jo Jo, and Diamond, the cat.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any of the Alzheimer’s Association’s of America. Howard had many, many friends and will be missed deeply. For we who believe, know we will all meet him again someday.

NUNES — Carl Leon Nunes, 90, of Sonora, died Sunday, Nov. 7, at Adventist Health Sonora. Cremation is planned, and inurnment will be at Carter’s Cemetery in Tuolumne. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

WINSTON — John F. Winston, 89, of Sonora, died Saturday, Nov. 6, at his home. Sierra Cremation and Burial Service is handling arrangements.
