Nita Lee Hilarides

1929 — 2021

Nita Lee Hilarides, 92, entered into the Lord’s presence on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021, in Sonora Senior Living.

Nita was Born May 19, 1929, in West Virginia. She was the daughter of the Late Clarence Haynes and Evelyn Campbell Haynes. She was the wife of Lee Hilarides, of Groveland. They were married on Aug. 3, 1963.

Nita was preceded in death by her son, Charles A. Barker, of West Virginia; her parents Clarence and Evelyn Haynes; and her siblings, Everette Haynes, Glenn Ray Haynes and Nila Jean Hall. Also, a great-grandson.

Other survivors include her children, Janet (Mike) Wood, of Georgia, and Kathy (Ed) Niedens and Roland (Robin) Hilarides, both of Groveland; daughter-in-law Anna Barker, of West Virginia; grandchildren Christi (Brian) Kubecki, Suzanne (Ricky) Hatcher, Kimberly Hagler, Darren (Brandy) Hagler, Robert (Sonja) Hagler II, Jason Niedens, Ryan (Bran) Niedens, Jeremy (Sarah) Niedens, David, Roland II, Makenzy and Raeanna Hilarides; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Nita owned Yosemite Riverside Inn with her husband, Lee, and son, Roland. She retired in 1998. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Sonora for 17 years. She loved to play games with family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling across the United States by train to visit her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings. She loved to shop and attend Red Hats in Sonora for the last few years.

While in Sonora Senior Living, Nita enjoyed playing bingo and other games. She loved to show off all the trinkets she had won. This helped brighten the last months of her life. The family wishes to thank the staff of Sonora Senior Living for the love and care they showed to their mom.

There was a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Big Oak Flat on Dec. 31.
