Teacher endorses Cathy Parker

-

To the Editor,

It is with great pleasure that I endorse Cathy Parker to be reelected as Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools. I have taught in this county for 19 years, and I can honestly say I have never witnessed anyone who puts in the time and effort that she does. This job is an enormous responsibility, one she does not take lightly.

Voters need to be aware of the extensive duties she's been excelling at during one of the most difficult times in the history of education. She is a straightforward, honest person, with no hidden agenda. If you have questions regarding her duties, plans and goals for her next term, she is happy to answer all of them.

Cathy's primary goal is always to serve all students and to give them and their teachers the tools in order to succeed. Sometimes as parents, we look to what is best only for our own children, Cathy is considering every single student, from every situation possible. During this very difficult time it would be foolish for us to elect someone mostly because they're known as being “a nice guy, whose family has lived in the county for six generations.” That doesn't qualify you to take care of what is most important to us, our children!

Imagine your neighborhood is on fire, who do you want to come to the rescue? The nice guy that's lived here a long time, but just learned how to be a fireman and only has a garden hose as a tool, or the chief who's extinguished hundreds of fires, and surrounds the neighborhood with every tool there is? Do you only consider your house, or those of your neighbors, too? Cathy is our chief. We need someone who has the experience to do this most important job. Jessica Brouns
