Banana republic

To the Editor:

Our southern border is in crisis, crime and homelessness are rampant, we have given up our energy independence, inflation is the highest since Jimmy Carter, our military is weak and woke, and we are entering a serious recession. By now, even the staunchest of Democrats have seen the error of electing basement Joe Biden. They also shot themselves in the foot by allowing Biden to pick Kamala Harris as VP. She has proved so inept and so unpopular that they can’t push Biden out even though they really want to. Harris would sink the party so deep they might not ever recover.

Thanks to Biden and Harris, the Democratic Party is likely to lose the House and possibly the Senate in the midterm elections, and now they are scared to death that Donald Trump will re-emerge and torment them once again. That is why they are holding the third impeachment trial of Trump under the guise of the Jan. 6 Commission, which is a sham. No exculpatory evidence is allowed, and there is no cross examination or fact checking of witnesses. The only Republicans that Nancy Pelosi allowed on the committee had previously shown their hatred of Trump and voted to impeach him. I’m sure they are impartial. This is a modern version of the Salem witch trials.

If that isn’t enough, the Biden Administration is continuing its police-state tactics by raiding the personal residence of Donald Trump to obtain a box of files they think might be classified. The continued targeting of political opponents by the party in power should put a chill up every citizen’s spine. If they can do this to a past president of the United States, they can do it to you and me. These are banana-republic tactics. Jim Costello
