State senator to speak at TUCARE dinner, auction
The Tuolumne County Alliance for Resources and Environment (TUCARE) will hold its 34th annual dinner and auction March 11 at the Elks Lodge in Sonora.
The event is an opportunity for members and the public to gather, enjoy a great dinner, have fun at the silent and live auctions, and be entertained and educated by a keynote speaker. Proceeds from the auctions go to support TUCARE’S “Tours for Kids” programs.
State Sen. Brian Dahle, R-bieber, will be the guest speaker at this year’s event.
Dahle ran as the Republican nominee for governor against Gov. Gavin Newsom last year. He represents 11 counties, including Alpine, El Dorado, Lassen, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Shasta, Sierra, and Siskiyou.
Dahle was elected to California’s 1st Assembly District in 2012 and was elected to represent the 1st Senate District in 2019. Before joining the Legislature, he served on the Lassen County Board of Supervisors for 16 years.
In the legislature, Dahle sits on the Senate Committees: Budget and Budget Subcommittee 2 Resources; Energy, Utilities and Communications (vice chair); Environmental Quality (vice chair); Governance and Finance; Natural Resources; and Transportation.
Dahle works across party lines for job creation and economic development in the rural North State and throughout California, pushing policies that keep families on their farms, protect water rights and support the business community.
In addition to Dahle’s service in elected office, he is a multigenerational farmer and small business owner. He and his wife, Megan, an Assemblywoman representing the 1st District, live in Bieber and have three children.
Social-time starts at 5 p.m., with a chicken and tri-tip dinner following at 6:30 p.m. The silent and live auctions will include some unique items such as a handmade quilt, one-ofa-kind artwork, gift certificates, dinner packages, and a wheelbarrow of wine.
Cost for the event is $45 per person until Feb. 28, then tickets go to $50. Tickets are not sold at the door.
