The Sonora Police Department reported the following:

WEDNESDAY

7:07 a.m., warrant arrests

— A caller said a man had been staying behind the Sonora Opera Hall for several days. The man was cited and released on a misdemeano­r warrant.

9:53 a.m., trespass/loiter

— A caller from a business on Old Wards Ferry Road said three people in a silver pickup refused to leave after having agreed to do so two days earlier. Two men were issued a formal trespass notice, but the woman was allowed to stay because she works nearby.

4:04 p.m., animal complaints — A white pit bull with brown spots and a chain around its neck was loose on Leonards Addition Road. An officer was unable to locate the dog, but it was spotted on North Stewart Street about 5:30 p.m., was caught by an officer and transporte­d to Animal Control. An officer attempted to contact the dog’s owner, but the owner was not home and their mailbox was full of mail.

5:28 p.m., animal complaints — A caller said a raccoon appeared sick and was staggering on South Barretta Street. An officer took the raccoon to the department, and it later was taken to the Rose Wolf Wildlife Sanctuary.

5:33 p.m., animal complaints — A white pit bull with brown spots and a chain around its neck was spotted on North Stewart Street.

5:43 p.m., traffic stop — A motorist was cited for headlight, brake light and proof of insurance violations after nearly colliding with a patrol car on Linoberg Street.

11:20 p.m., suspicious

circumstan­ces — An anonymous caller said a man wearing all black was banging on the walls of a South Washington Street lodging establishm­ent. An officer contacted a man who matched the descriptio­n, but he denied doing anything.

The Sheriff’s Office reported the following:

WEDNESDAY

10:04 a.m., Sonora — A caller was referred to the California Highway Patrol after reporting illegal passing on Campo Seco Road.

1:34 p.m., Sonora — Someone was arrested after taking beer from a Mono Way grocery store without paying.

4:55 p.m., Jamestown — A Wigwam Road resident said people were trespassin­g.

7:04 p.m., Sonora — A welfare check was made at a Sparrow Lane address after a report of a fight or disturbanc­e.

11:12 p.m., Jamestown — A Wigwam Road resident said people were trespassin­g.

5:23 p.m., Sonora — Jonathan Michael Gavi, 36, of the 10000 block of Petticoat Junction Drive, Jamestown, was booked on suspicion of possession of drugs for sale, unlawful possession of tear gas, manufactur­ing a leaded cane, transporti­ng drugs and misdemeano­r possession of a narcotic controlled substance and possession of unlawful parapherna­lia after an arrest on Pesce Way.

8:23 p.m., Sonora — Michael James Snell, 47, of the 21000 block of Phoenix Lake Road, Sonora, was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, false imprisonme­nt, using a person as a shield and violating a protective order after an arrest at his home.

CALAVERAS COUNTY

The Sheriff’s Office reported the following:

WEDNESDAY

6:41 a.m., Arnold — A tarp was stolen from a Calaverita­s Drive property.

9:18 a.m., Mokelumne Hill — Someone broke into a room at a South Main Street property.

3:07 p.m., Paloma — A report was taken for suspicious activity at a Messinger Flat Road property.

3:23 p.m., Mokelumne Hill

— A caller said keys were in the door of a West Center Street property, but no cars were in the parking lot.

7:10 p.m., Valley Springs — People fought on Quail Oaks Road.

8:09 p.m., Valley Springs — A Gee Lane resident heard noise in her garage, but a deputy checked and found nothing.
