Mary Elizabeth Dymesich

Mary Dymesich, beloved mother, wife and friend, passed away at her home in Jamestown on Feb. 20, 2023, at age 90. Mary was born in Bayfield, Wisconsin, on July 31, 1932, to Peter and Marie Vanderel.

Mary married Michael Mainguth in 1955 and moved to Ashland, Wisconsin, where they had three children. After the loss of her husband from cancer in 1962, she moved to Sonora, California, in 1965. She married John Dymesich and had another child. In the following years there were annual trips across the states to visit with family and friends. Mary enjoyed traveling, meeting new friends, square dancing, puzzles, and playing cards.

Always a wife, mother and grandmothe­r, she also worked outside the home in the banking industry in Ashland and Sonora and retired from Blue Shield Insurance in 1995.

Family was very important, and she enjoyed her six grandchild­ren and eight great-grandchild­ren. She kept in contact with many nieces and nephews in her Wisconsin family throughout the years. When John was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, she cared for him with grace and patience until his passing in 1992. In retirement, she traveled in her motorhome throughout the United States visiting family and friends along the way. When the opportunit­y arose, she enjoyed traveling abroad and taking cruises. While traveling in her motorhome, she discovered the Lost Dutchman Resort in Apache Junction, Arizona, and purchased a winter residence and enjoyed the snowbird life for many years.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sonora. Reception to follow at the Mill Villa clubhouse. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Bayfield, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to a charity of your choice in her memory.

Preceded in death by her husband, Michael Mainguth (1962); husband John Dymesich (1992); brother’s Joseph Vanderel (1928), George Vanderel (1990) and John Vanderel (2006); and grandson Brett Mainguth (2000).

Survived by children Michael Mainguth (Evelyn), Mary Scott (Terry), Catherine Mainguth (Cris) and John Dymesich (Marla Carrie); grandchild­ren Warren Mainguth (Casey), Ryan Mainguth (Leia), Melissa Read (Trenton) and Brittany and Cameron Thornburg; and eightgreat grandchild­ren; as well as dear friends Louie Ramirez and Donna Stasio.

Mary will be deeply missed by her family and the friends she made through the years.

Rest in peace, Mary Dymesich. You will be forever in our hearts.
