Food writer Emily Nunn knows how to make the best of a low mo­ment, said Nina Mar­tyris in NPR.org. After drunk­enly pour­ing her heart out one night on Face­book, she awoke to an in­box full of in­vi­ta­tions from friends and fam­ily and de­cided to em­bark on a road trip to break bread with all of them. “Mis­ery mem­oirs run the risk of hav­ing soggy bot­toms,” of course, but Nunn’s writ­ing “has a crisp tex­tu­ral bite.” Her trav­els have pro­duced an “in­sight­ful, un­spar­ing, and touch­ing” mem­oir.
