Fall beers: Into the woods

($13 for 12 oz). Aged in oak tanks with vanilla beans, this legendary stout has “notes of fudge, cocoa, and raspberries,” plus “noticeable heat” from its high alcohol content.
($15 for 500 ml). Goose Island’s celebrated barrelaged stout arrives on November’s Black Friday this year and will include a variant that tastes like bananas Foster.
($26 for 750 ml). The fancy corked-and-caged bottles make clear that this sour ale, aged in apple-flavored whiskey barrels, is something special.
