Alexandria Montgomery says the drivethrough worker—who has since been fired—told her that no English-speaking staffers were available and threatened to call the police if she didn’t leave. “It really made me feel like I don’t belong here,” said Montgomery, “and I grew up here my whole life.” ■■■Officials at a Tennessee middle school told students who found maggots in their cafeteria food to write thankyou notes to cafeteria workers in “an effort to be positive.” Parent Brandy Schubert says officials responded defensively to complaints about the maggots and instructed students to “write a letter to the cafeteria ladies” to say “what you are thankful for.”
