Reinhart’s skin struggles

-

Lili Reinhart is literally not comfortable in her own skin, said Halie LeSavage in Glamour. The 22-year-old Riverdale star struggles with a form of body dysmorphia that leads to obsessive concern with her cystic acne, which she’s had since she was 12 years old. Just one zit can ruin an entire day. “I see any acne on my face as an obsessive thing. [It’s] the only thing I can think about, and it makes me want to hide,” Reinhart says. During a recent photo shoot, “All I could think about when I was in front of the camera were the pimples on my forehead.” The constant attention she receives as a newly minted celebrity doesn’t make it any easier. “It still pisses me off so bad when I see someone trying to sneak a photo of me,” she says. “Sometimes I feel like I look like s---. Sometimes I don’t want to talk to anyone. I’m allowed to have those days.” Nevertheless, she’s remarkably open about her insecurities, posting about them on Instagram and Twitter, where she frequently discusses mental health and body image. “[The singer] Lorde actually messaged me on Instagram when I had spoken out about my acne,” she says, “And she was like, ‘Girl, I feel you. I’m totally on the same page as you.’ It was really comforting and very sweet of her.”
