- ■■Motorcycle­s no longer signify youth and rebellion. In 1990, the median age of riders was 32; by last year, it had risen to 47. Sales peaked at 1.1 million in 2007, before the recession. Since then, they’ve been cut in half, to 538,000.

■■Podcast ad sales in the U.S. totaled $314 million last year and will grow to $659 million by 2020, according to PwC. About 55 percent of podcast listeners are men, who listen an average 7.6 hours per week. Female listeners spend about 5.5 hours per week listening.

■■U.S. airlines earned $4.6 billion in checkedbag­gage fees in 2017. That’s up from $4.2 billion a year earlier. The upside of the fees? Airlines have gotten better at not losing your luggage: The number of mishandled bags fell to 5.6 bags per thousand passengers last year, from 18.8 in 2007.
