It must be true...

I read it in the tabloids

■■ A town councilman in Spain offered to resign after inadvertently live-streaming himself showering during an online government meeting. Rushing to get ready for his day job, Bernardo Bustillo of Torrelavega took his laptop into the bathroom during the meeting and minimized the screen. But as he got into the shower, his colleagues could still see him on their screens. “Say something to Berni. Say something to him quickly,” pleaded one of them as he stepped out, naked. Bustillo later apologized but said he was at “complete peace” with his nudity.

■■ A Taiwanese airport gave 90 raffle winners the chance to board a plane and pretend they were flying off on a foreign vacation. Songshan airport in Taipei said the experience enabled the winners to remember what traveling is like by passing through immigration, boarding a plane, and enjoying some snacks and drinks before disembarking and returning home. “People who want to fly abroad have long been suffering,” explained airport official Wang Chih-ching.

■■ A Burmese cat named Oscar survived a 12-minute cycle in a washing machine. The feline’s owner, Amanda Meredith, said she heard an odd meowing sound at her home in Australia, shortly after her husband put in a wash. It took an agonizing two minutes for the machine to drain and stop turning. “The poor little cat had his hands on the glass as he was doing the rotations, and he was looking at me,” she said. But Oscar came out largely unharmed and “very soft.” Oscar now sits and watches the wash cycle every time the machine operates. “Maybe he has PTSD,” said Meredith.
