■ In seven years, Amazon has grown from zero share of the U.S. shipping market to 21 percent, surpassing FedEx (16 percent). The USPS remains dominant with 38 percent, while UPS accounts for 24 percent.

■ There were 17.5 million undergradu­ate students enrolled in U.S. colleges this fall, a 6.5 percent decline from 2019. That’s the largest two-year enrollment drop in 50 years. Community-college enrollment is down 14.1 percent from two years ago.
