The Week’s guide to what’s worth watching

-

Jeopardy! Professors Tournament Television’s most revered game show has had a tough 12 months. A year after the death of longtime host Alex Trebek and three months since his would-be replacement flamed out, Jeopardy! attempts to turn the page with a special twoweek-long tournament. Mayim Bialik, one of the show’s current co-hosts, moderates this unprecedented competition, in which 15 university professors will vie for a $100,000 grand prize. Begins Monday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m., ABC

Landscapers

You wonder how they thought they could have gotten away with it. In this four-part drama based on an unusual British murder case, Olivia Colman and David Thewlis co-star as Susan and Christopher Edwards, a quiet middle-aged couple who killed Susan’s parents, buried them in the back garden, and for 15 years maintained the fiction that the victims were still alive and dependent on government assistance checks. When the spouses face interrogation separately, their twisted love story begins to unravel. Monday, Dec. 6, at 9 p.m., HBO

Anne Boleyn

Henry VIII’s second wife will always be a fascinating historical figure. In this three-part British drama series, which covers only the final months of the queen’s life, she is played by Queen & Slim star Jodie Turner-Smith, an actress of Jamaican descent whose riveting performance alone makes the story worth revisiting. But don’t expect a modern telling to match the unconventional casting: This is an old-school historical drama, thick with detail and portentous metaphors. Available Thursday, Dec. 9, AMC+

Creamerie

Is it too soon for a dark comedy series set in a post-pandemic world? This offbeat and clever New Zealand import imagines a future in which a virus has wiped out the world’s male population and a Goop-like wellness regime has risen to power. Three friends who live together on an organic dairy farm have to decide where their loyalties lie when they stumble across possibly the last man on Earth, and he says he’s being hunted. Available Thursday, Dec. 9, Hulu

For Auld Lang Syne

Charles Schulz’ Peanuts gang has been welcomed into homes at Christmas for decades. Apple, which has done a fine job with The Snoopy Show, is now rolling out a Peanuts New Year’s special. As the big calendar change approaches, Lucy vows to throw a big bash, while Charlie Brown ties himself in knots trying to accomplish at least one of his resolutions before the old year ends. Available Friday, Dec. 10, Apple TV+
