The Saint of Second Chances

Mike Veeck learned the art of outrageous baseball game promotions from his Hall of Famer father, Bill Veeck. But when his idea to blow up disco records during a Chicago White Sox game led to a riot, the younger Veeck was blackballe­d from baseball. This colorful documentar­y traces Veeck’s fall and the redemption he found running the minor league St. Paul Saints, where he gave fellow exiles and misfits a shot at playing the game they loved. American Horror Story: Delicate

Oh, the Horror! Ryan Murphy’s fright-fest of an anthology series returns for a 12th season that will feature old and new faces. Longtime series regular Emma Roberts takes the lead in a Rosemary’s Baby–like story about a pregnant woman brought to hysteria by doctors who insist she isn’t pregnant. The question of what, if anything, she is carrying becomes the crux of the drama. Kim Kardashian co-stars in her first scripted role. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 10 p.m., FX

Cassandro

Saúl Armendáriz was a middling figure in Mexican wrestling until he became the “Liberace of the Lucha Libre.” Gael García Bernal shines in this terrific biopic of the wrestler who rose to stardom as the flamboyant­ly gay Cassandro, the first exótico—a luchador who fights in drag— to win a title in Mexico’s Universal Wrestling Associatio­n. The Continenta­l: From the World of John Wick

Fans of the John Wick franchise know Winston Scott as the debonair proprietor of New York City’s Continenta­l Hotel, which offers a safe haven for assassins. This three-part series set in New York in the gritty ’70s charts how he came to the job. Colin Woodell (The Flight Attendant) stars as the cravat-wearing Scott, pulled into the underworld to protect his brother from the villainous Cormac, who controls the Continenta­l and a formidable crime syndicate. Mel Gibson co-stars as Cormac. Friday, Sept. 22, Peacock

Krapopolis

All hail Dan Harmon! The Rick and Morty creator has ruled the animation world for a while and aims to extend his reign with this promising new prime-time series set in an alternate ancient Greece. Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd) voices Tyrannis, a wisecracki­ng king who aims to advance civilizati­on and create an empire.

But he’s stymied by a dysfunctio­nal family that includes a slovenly father who’s half-minotaur, half-manticore and is voiced by What We Do in the Shadows’ Matthew Berry. Sunday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m., Fox
