Honor Olafson for his work

The Tanyard Creek Nature Trail Volunteers of Bella Vista would like to congratulate Vern Olafson on his recent retirement.

As Lakes and Parks Superintendent, he has worked very hard for many years to maintain the nature trail and our community’s other amenities for the benefit of all.

Our volunteer group has enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Mr. Olafson over the years, and we wish him the very best as he transitions to his new status as a retired Bella Vista resident.

Randy Hamm, chairman Tanyard Creek Nature Trail Volunteers Crazy parking lot policy

June 11, I was shopping with my beagle at a retailer just outside Bella Vista. I had just had a nice conversation with Nate in the door section about a new doggie-friendly policy when I exited the store and heard a dog crying and yelping.

I found the silver F150 truck with the dog inside and the windows barely cracked open. The dog was VERY unhappy. Temperature was 84 at this time, so it had to be over 100 in the car.

I went right back to the store and asked for the manager. He walked outside with me.

I pointed out the car and asked him to do something about the dog in distress. His response to me was his company is NOT responsible for anything that happens in the parking lot.

He followed this up by saying that he was a dog lover but would not do anything.

Really?? As a Realtor and builder, I spend lots of money in building supplies, but now I will be spending more at other building supply stores.

I wonder, if someone was breaking into a car or assaulting someone in the parking lot, if they would have the same policy.
