To beat heat, Farmers' Market closing early:

-

With heat making the afternoon miserable, Bella Vista Farmers’ Market organizers have decided to close up shop an hour early until it cools off.

So, the market will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The market is held on the parking lot of Mercy Medical Clinic.

Vendors are in the thick of blackberry season. Local, homegrown tomatoes are available. Squash varieties are plentiful, as are onions and root vegetables. Vendors are offering bountiful harvests of green beans and broccoli, which should last throughout July.

As the end of July nears, vendors should start harvesting melons and cantaloupe.

Vendors will offer their goodies every Sunday until Oct. 30.

Entertainment

In addition to great local produce and other products, a lineup of entertainment has been scheduled for July. The list includes:

• July 3: One Love (Bella Vista locals), 3-piece keyboard, full drum kit, and electric bass; rock and roll

• July 10: Candy Lee and Emily Rowland, sweet original duets

• July 17: Beth Bishop and father, family original folk tunes

• July 24: Lucas Wigington, solo country/rock and roll/blues

• July 31: Astynn Barbaree, sweet solo ukulele tunes.
