Sylvia B. Chandler

Sylvia B. Chandler, 84, died Saturday, July 23, 2016.

Funeral services are pending with Downing and Lahey Mortuary — East Chapel in Wichita, Kan.

Carolyn Sue (Price) Imhof

Carolyn Sue (Price) Imhof, 77, of Bella Vista, Ark., died July 19, 2016. She was born May 13, 1939, in Raleigh, Ill.

She attended schools in Harrisburg, Ill. She was married to Thomas A. Imhof for 47 years.

She was a member of Bella Vista Community Church of Bella Vista.

She is survived by her brother, Michael P. Price, of Panama City Beach, Fla.; aunts Bea Stafford and Estella Fowler and her husband, Gene, of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother-in-law Jack Sibley and his wife, Shirley, of Dubuque, Iowa; sister-in-law Nancy (Imhof) Flatley of San Antonio, Texas; cousins; and beloved nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Bella Vista Community Church. The Rev. Dr. Jeff Reed will officiate.

Her internment will be in Iowa at a later date.

Robert Lewis Kraus

Robert Lewis Kraus, 81, of Bella Vista, Ark., died July 19, 2016. He was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Massillon, Ohio, to Robert O. and Melba Kraus.

He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He moved to Bella Vista in 2003 from Arkansas City, Kan.

Robert is survived by his wife, Conneye; three children: Korbin Kraus of Hollywood, Calif., Paul Kraus and his wife, Christine, of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; and Stephanie Kraus Wuthrich and her husband, Jim, of Glendale, Calif.; 12 grandchild­ren; and two great-grandchild­ren.

A private family committal will be held at the Fayettevil­le National Cemetery.

John Richard Meade

John Richard Meade, 89, of Gravette, Ark., died Wednesday, July 20, 2016, in Gravette. He was born on April 13, 1927, to Richard and Dot Meade.

He was raised in Gravette and graduated from high school in April 1945. At that time, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Philippine­s and Okinawa. He was discharged in October 1946, at which time he enrolled in the University of Arkansas under the G.I. Bill, graduating in June 1950. In March 1951, he married Frances Tally, his wife of 61 years.

He was employed by Bank of Gravett as an officer trainee. He served in the bank until he retired August 2004 as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors after 54 years of service. He remained on the board until 2014.

He has always been active in the affairs of Gravette, serving as president of the Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Volunteer Fire Department, American Legion, Board of Gravette Medical Center and Gravette School Board. He also served on the Board of Narti in Springdale.

He enjoyed tennis, fishing, Razorback sports and carrying chains for Gravette High School football team. He loved his community, the Methodist Church and, most of all, his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances.

He is survived by his children: Patricia Meade Waggoner and husband Rex of Rogers, Ark., and William (Bill) Meade and wife Brenda of Gravette; grandchild­ren Rex Waggoner and wife Casey of New York, N.Y., Neal Waggoner and wife Amy of Little Rock, Ark., Bethany Meade Muir and husband Doug of Whitefish Mont., and Adam Meade and wife Ashli of Cabot, Ark.; and great-granddaugh­ters Kate and Avery Waggoner of Little Rock.

Visitation and the funeral service were Monday, July 25, 2016, at Heritage Baptist Church.

The burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Gravette..

Kent E. Pellam Jr.

Kent E. Pellam Jr., 69, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly from Rome, N.Y., passed away July 22, 2016, in Rogers, Ark. He was born to Theresa and Kent E. Pellam Sr.

He attended Westernvil­le Elementary in New York and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1964. He graduated from St. Gregory College in Shawnee, Okla., and then received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administra­tion (Management) degree in 1969 from Central State College in Edmond, Okla.

After being in retail management for 30 years and retiring, he and his wife, Linda, bought and managed a motel in Branson, Mo., for a number of years. He fully retired and moved to Bella Vista in 2004. Kent volunteere­d at the Bella Vista Country Club Golf Associatio­n for a several years. He loved spending time with family, especially with his grandchild­ren. Kent enjoyed golf and fishing and thoroughly enjoyed smoking cigars as his pastime.

He received an honorable medical discharge from the USAF in 1971.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Palmertree.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; son Brian Pellam of Lubbock, Texas; two stepsons Jayson and Tammy DeLoach of Centerton, Ark., and Nic and Melinda DeLoach also of Centerton; grandchild­ren Brooke, Briley, Bryson and Hunter Pellam, all of Lubbock, Gabriella DeLoach and Zac, Jade, Sage, and Maddyson DeLoach, all of Centerton; sister Lori David and her, husband, Robert, of Edmond, Okla.; brother-inlaw Jim Palmertree of Horn Lake, Miss.; many nieces and nephews; as well as many loving extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Abused Women’s Shelter, in care of Concordia Retirement Center, 1 Concordia Dr, Bella Vista, AR 72715.

Helen Kittle Slaymaker

Helen Kittle (Meskill) Slaymaker, 87, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of Leawood, Kan., died July 20, 2016, in Rogers, Ark. She was born in Overland Park, Kan., to Liz and Larry Kittle.

She attended Westwood View Elementary School and Shawnee Mission (North) High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Kansas, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Following graduation, she was a stewardess for Trans World Airlines.

She received her Master’s Degree at Central Missouri State University and taught Kindergart­en children at Cherokee Elementary School in Overland Park for 32 years before retiring in 1993.

She was a member of the Village Presbyteri­an Church, Junior League of Kansas City, Mo., and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Associatio­n of Kansas City. She had served as the sorority’s Province Director of Alumni. She was a past president of The Greater Kansas City Panhelleni­c Associatio­n. She served on the Shawnee Mission Head Start Board of Directors. She was a member of Altrusa Internatio­nal Inc. of Bentonvill­e/Bella Vista.

She was preceded in death by her her brother, Gene Kittle.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Becky Meskill, of Bella Vista, Ark; three granddaugh­ters: Dawn Meskill of Wichita, Kans., Colleen Johnson and her husband, Lance, of Centerton, Ark., and Shannon Ciarlone of Oxford, Pa; and two great-granddaugh­ters, Jessica Johnson of Centerton and Elizabeth Ciarlone of Oxford.

A memorial service was held July 26, 2016, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a private family service in Leawood, Kan.
