St. Bernard Pinochle Club

Attention all Pinochle players. Ever wanted to get a really big score in Pinochle? Here is your opportunit­y to do so. St. Bernard Pinochle Club will meet the second Monday of every month from September through May at 6 p.m. at the Parish Hall. Play begins at 6:30 p.m. or as soon as everyone is gathered. This version of Double Deck Pinochle gives bonus points for some frequently occurring groups of cards. This is fun and easy to learn with payouts for winners every week. The entry fee is $1 per time and 4 to 5 places plus low-man go home with winnings.

Bring a snack to pass and sign up with a partner or come alone.

St. Bernard Parish Hall is at 1 St. Bernard Lane. Turn off 340 about three-quarters of a mile east of Forest Hills Blvd.

Hoot ’n Holler Cloggers

The fall session for the Hoot ’n Holler Cloggers will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at Riordan Hall. The beginning class will start at 3:30 p.m. followed by the regular class at 4:30. A 10-session punch card for $30 can be purchased at Riordan Hall. Pick up a copy of the class schedule at registrati­on and join the group for some fun exercise.

Kingsdale Squares

The Kingsdale Squares will not dance at Riordan Hall on Monday, Aug. 29. Our next dance will be on Monday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. with Johnny Eubanks calling. There will be a plus workshop at 6:30 p.m. prior to the dance. All square dancers are invited to join in.

The Bella Vista Bluebird Society

The Bella Vista Bluebird Society requests residents with bluebird boxes in their yards to report the number of bluebird chicks, and other box nesters, that have fledged (hatched and flew the coup) for the 2016 nesting season.

The numbers are added to those fledged from the Society’s trails and then reported to the North American Bluebird Society. The numbers will also be reported locally as soon as the total is obtained. Thanks for your cooperatio­n.

Sunrise Rotary Club

The Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club has a breakfast meeting every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at Concordia Retirement Center, 1 Concordia Drive, Bella Vista. Sgt. Eric Palmer, with the Bella Vista Police Department, will present informatio­n on the Boy Scouts Explorer program, at Rotary’s Wednesday, Aug. 31 meeting.

Bella Vista Radio Club

The Bella Vista Radio Club will meet Thursday, Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. at Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bells Vista. All licensed amateur radio enthusiast­s or prospectiv­e hams are welcome. BVRC meets the first Thursday of each month.

Bella Vista Women’s Chorus

Do you love to sing? Bella Vista Women’s Chorus started a new season on Monday, August 15 and invites singers from the Tri-County area to come join us! All are welcome with no tryouts or experience needed. Directed by Dr. Larry Zehring, BVWC performs classical, pop, folk and show tunes for local clubs and events. Rehearsals are Mondays at 12:45 p.m. in the music room of the Bella Vista First United Methodist Church. The chorus is avaiable to sing for clubs and organizati­ons.

Line Dance Club

Line Dance Club plans fall classes. A beginners class will meet on Wednesdays and Fridays, beginning Sept. 7, from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. at Riordan Hall. Registrati­on fee for this class is $20 for supplies. If you do not have a Bella Vista photo ID, you will pay Riordan Hall $2.25 per class.

The class will be taught by Kristine Schaap, who has taught the beginners for several years. New dancers have the opportunit­y to learn line dancing steps and dances that use these steps, and receive handouts, lots of practice, and personal attention. People find that line dancing is an enjoyable way to get great exercise.

Woodcarver­s Club

The Woodcarver­s Club now has a booth at the Bella Vista Farmers Market on Mercy Drive in the West parking lot on Sunday’s from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by and check out the

carvings. The Bella Vista Woodcarver­s Club meets Thursday’s from 1 to 3 p.m. at Riordan Hall. Guests are welcome, and new members are accepted for a nominal yearly fee. Bella Vista has some very talented carvers and wood burners willing to teach anyone the art of carving or wood burning. The group is a nonprofit organizati­on.

Andante Music Club

“NEW Beginnings” is the theme for the Tuesday, Sept. 6, Andante Music Club meeting. It will be held at noon at the Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. A salad and dessert lunch will be served at noon, followed by the performanc­e of Samantha Akers, violinist. Come and enjoy a meeting, food, fellowship, and music. Everyone is welcome. The Andante Music Club is affiliated with the Arkansas and the National Music Clubs.

Northwest Arkansas Coin Club

The Northwest Arkansas Coin Club meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Embassy Suites hotel at exit 83 off I-49 in Rogers, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It is seeking collectors of coins and currency to join for fun and entertainm­ent each month.

Village Art Club

The Village Art Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. at the Wishing Spring Gallery on McNelly Road. Each month one of the exhibitors from the Gallery discusses the process and product they show and sell at the Wishing Spring Gallery, which is sponsored by the Art Club.

Each fall the VAC also sponsors the Bella Vista Arts and Crafts Festival, and the proceeds go to fund art scholarshi­ps and grants at local elementary schools to further Arts and Education. The meeting is open to the public and informatio­n regarding membership is available at the meeting. All are welcome.

Bella Vista Concert Band

The Community Concert Band holds their practice every Monday through Sept. 19, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. The remaining concert series dates are Sept. 5 and Sept. 25.

Bella Vista Needlework Club

The Bella Vista Needlework Club meets at Riordan Hall every Monday morning at 10 a.m. The group includes those who knit, crochet, cross-stitch, weave, quilt or do various kinds of needlework. There is plenty of room, large tables and enough light. Those without a POA photo ID card will need to pay $2.25 at the desk. The annual group fee is $2. The first Monday of each month the club has a meeting and refreshmen­ts.

Bass Club

The Bass Club is seeking new members. This catch-and-release bass-fishing club holds monthly draw tournament­s on Bella vista’s two largest lakes from March through November. The club promotes a friendly environmen­t for anglers of all ages. They fish a team format with boaters and non-boaters paired together,

weigh in a five-fish bag limit, and receive the same points for the position in which they finish.

Bella Vista Decorative Artists

The Bella Vista Decorative Artists chapter meets the second Saturday at Wishing Spring Gallery Studio, 8862 West McNelly Road, Bentonvill­e (behind Walgreens).

The meetings are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include a business meeting and painting session. The chapter goal is to stimulate interest and appreciati­on for the art of painting. All skill levels are welcome.
