Elsie Mary Davis

Elsie Mary Davis, 72, of Centerton, Ark., died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016. She was born March 2, 1944, in Pineville, Mo., to Jesse and Eva Pendergraf­t.

She was an Administra­tive Assistant in Walmart’s Real Estate Office.

She loved sewing, reading and watching the Razorbacks. Time spent with family and friends was precious to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Nancy Gail Dollar; and her beloved brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Elvin Lee Davis and wife Joyce of Marshall, Texas; her daughter, Dr. Kay Davis and Jeff Hoesel of Cottlevill­e, Mo.; and grandchild­ren, Leanna Davis, Houston Davis and Clifford Dollar.

Visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.

Robert Nelson DuBois

Robert Nelson DuBois, 77, died Aug. 19, 2016, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonvill­e, Ark. He was born March 25, 1939, in Omaha, Neb., to Ted and June DuBois.

The family moved to California in 1951 where he spent his life until July 1972 when he and his family moved to Arkansas.

He had many hobbies, such as car racing, scuba diving, dune buggies, boating and fishing. He worked in all kinds of constructi­on most of his life and ended his career as a building contractor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ted DuBois; a brother, Roger DuBois; and a sister, Shirley Wafford.

He is survived by his wife, Babe DuBois, of Bella Vista, Ark.; his mother, June DuBois, of Bentonvill­e; sister, Michelle Dennett of Bentonvill­e; brother, Jack DuBois of Noel, Mo.; and numerous grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

The memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Pea Ridge First United Methodist Church.

Gary Gay

Gary Gay, 47, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1968, in Batesville, Ark., the son of Carlon and Dorothy Gay.

He lived in Bella Vista for almost 30 years and worked as an agent for Crye-Leike Real Estate in Bentonvill­e.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carlon Gay.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Gay, of Floral, Ark.; brothers, Kevin and Bevin Gay of Batesville; sister, Kim Lamons of Floral; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews; and a multitude family-like friends in northwest Arkansas.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

June M. Hillyer

June M. Hillyer died peacefully at her home in Union, N.J., Aug. 13, 2016. Born in Sherkston, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of Herbert and Marjorie Wilhelm.

She was a graduate of McMaster College (Hamilton, Ontario) and worked as a medical laboratory technician at Hamilton General Hospital. In 1950, she married Dr. John “Jack” Hillyer, the love of her life. Shortly after her marriage, she and Jack moved to Flat Rock, Mich., where Jack began his medical practice. She also lived in Ponca City, Okla., for three years before moving to Dubai for five years. She and Jack retired to Bella Vista, Ark., in 1991 then moved to Union, N.J., earlier this year.

She was an active member of the Flat Rock First United Methodist Church in Michigan and St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church in Arkansas. She was an avid lover of opera and a docent at the Bella Vista Historical Museum. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmothe­r.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Wilhelm of Kamloops, British Columbia.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack; her sisters, Carol Burnell and Patsy Wilhelm; her sons, David Hillyer of Fair Oaks, Calif., Michael Hillyer and wife Grace of Springfiel­d, N.J., and Larry Lamanes of Sacramento, Calif.; and six grandchild­ren, Evelyn, John, Jennifer, April, Christophe­r and Steven.

A funeral service was held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Millburn, N.J., Aug. 18, 2016. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to St. Theodore Episcopal Church, Capital Fund, 101 Kingsland Rd., Bella Vista AR 72714; or to the charity of your choice.

Marion Rita Maertens

Marion Rita Maertens, 78, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Aug. 24, 2016, at Circle of Life Hospice Legacy Village. She was born Nov. 15, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of John and Mary Zimny.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Maertens; children, Jack Maertens and wife Gretchen of Garfield, Ark., Sharon Morris and husband Kenneth of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Sandra Maertens of Bentonvill­e, Ark; one brother, John Zimny and wife Dorothea of McHenry, Ill.; sisters, Esther Chiero of Chicago and Pearl Zujewski of Brentwood, Tenn.; six grandchild­ren; and four great-grandchild­ren.

Rosary preceded the Mass of the Resurrecti­on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at St. Bernard Catholic Church.

Burial was at the St. Bernard Columbariu­m.

Jeffery William Taylor

Jeffery William Taylor, 59, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016. He was surrounded by the love of his family. He was blessed to not have suffered from a long, arduous battle with his recently diagnosed cancer. He was born July 16, 1957.

He was the baby brother. He was also the bacon eater, “goodie box” curator, the grand storytelle­r, the camping champion, the chair hauler, the bike rider, the one with the most campfire toys and who was always with the most stories. He was a laid back, slow-talking, hardworkin­g man — strong, good, helpful and funny. He was a father, uncle, cousin, friend, and everybody’s favorite.

He told some, “If I have to die, I don’t want to linger and waste away.” His philosophy was always, “Let’s get the job done.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; and sister, Josephine.

He is survived by his son, Jason Taylor and wife Claire of London, England; daughter, Summer Newman of Bella Vista, Ark.; grandchild­ren, Michael and Branson Newman and Judy and Josie Taylor; brother, Jerry Taylor and wife Jane of Oklahoma City; sisters, Jean Daley of Oklahoma City, Neomia Jan Carrillo of Mukilteo, Wash., Janice Manning and husband Art of Westminste­r, Calif., and Julia Bowman and husband Tal of Bella Vista; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church in Bella Vista.
