Saturday, Sept. 10

The Democratic Party of Benton County will gather for the Little Flock Picnic, a tradition for over 50 years, at the Little Flock City Park at 4 p.m. Party leaders and candidates will join Democrats from northwest Arkansas for a “Democratic meal.” Featured speaker State Rep. Greg Leding will address the status of the Democratic Party in Arkansas. Friends and neighbors are invited to this major fundraiser in Benton County. Entries are now being accepted for the 39th Ozark Quilt Fair, at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. Quilters and quilt lovers are invited to display new and antique quilts for show and sale on the museum grounds. The entry fee is $10 per exhibitor. Cash prize Viewer’s Choice awards will be given in the amount of $50, $35, and $15 for first, second and third place, respective­ly, in both new and antique quilt categories. The entry deadline is Sept. 7. Entry forms are available at shilohmuse­um.org or by calling 479-750-8165. The Ozark Quilt Fair is sponsored by Arvest Bank.

Helen Dean Sammarco, Porcelain Master Artist, will present a porcelain art demonstrat­ion at 10 a.m. at the Bella Vista Library, 11 Dickens Place. This demonstrat­ion will take the mystery out of the different types of clay and bring an understand­ing to the fine art of porcelain painting. Topics of discussion will range from grinding materials to the why and hows of firing. Handouts will be presented. Call 479553-8775 with any questions.

Sunday, Sept. 11

Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., will have a special musical program celebratin­g the addition of a new concert grand piano to their sanctuary. Through the generosity of Muriel and Emil Cross, this Mason and Hamlin BB grand piano will greatly enhance the Sunday morning services as well as other musical programs for years to come. The dedication concert will begin at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary and will feature piano solos and duets and the Chancel Choir. All are welcome to this very special event.

“Keep the Whole World Singing,” hosted by Village Bible Church, 1591 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, is a special program of music featuring songs of faith, patriotism and classic Barbershop Americana. It is being presented by the “Pride of the Ozarks” Barbershop Chorus, the “ArkApella” Sweet Adeline’s Chorus from northwest Arkansas, and their special guests, the quartet “Premium Sound.” Doors open at 1:30 p.m. with the program starting at 2 p.m. An ice cream social will follow in the Fellowship Hall of the church. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. There is no cost to attend, but a free-will offering will help the local choruses in their efforts to promote singing — especially Barbershop harmony singing — in our area schools.

Thursday, Sept. 15

Local artists Susan Shore and Michael Cockram will perform at The Artist Retreat Center at 7 p.m. Their acoustic repertoire ranges from high lonesome ballads to swing and contempora­ry folk songs. Friday and Sunday, Sept. 16 and 18

The Bella Vista Men’s Chorus will present their annual Fall Concert, “America Sings” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. The concert will be held at the Bella Vista Community Church. Featured will be Western, Folk and Patriotic selections with some audience participat­ion. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Arvest Bank locations, from chorus members or at the door. Don’t miss this wonderful celebratio­n of American Music.

Saturday, Sept. 17

The Bella Vista Decorative Artists will be hosting their “Mad Hatter” Card and Game Party from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Bella Vista Assembly of God Church, 1771 Forrest Hills Blvd. The fundraiser will include cards and game tables to be reserved by individual­s or groups for $12 a person. There will be theme baskets created by BVDA members to be raffled off, a store to sell members’ artwork, door prizes, lunch and desserts. Sept. 23-24

The annual Yard and Bake Sale is presented by the Disciples Women of Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Baked goods are available each day. Items will include household goods, décor, games, sporting goods, gardening items, books, children’s items, toys, jewelry, men and women’s accessorie­s, books, tapes, music, crafts, etc. Come early and stay late.
