Ramona Lea Boyd

-

Ramona Lea Boyd, 82, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016. She, in late stages of Alzheimer’s, was a resident at Highland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center since she took a fall in late August.

She was born Jan. 22, 1935, in Oklahoma City to Virgil and Jewel Stotts.

She shared a love for golfing and bowling with her husband, Merv. They were active members of Kiwanis in Bella Vista, where she once served as President. They were also active members of the Christian Church in Gentry, Ark.

She loved spending time with her dachshunds, Pete and Todd, and tending to her many gardens, even when it became physically difficult for her to do. The family is so grateful to the many friends and their neighbors who helped them during her illness and to the staff at the nursing center who lovingly cared for her.

Her family will miss her here but find great comfort and joy in knowing that their separation from her is short-lived as they will once again be reunited in Heaven for eternity. They know she will be tending to the gardens and making a home for them there and is now reunited with family members who have gone before her.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Archer Boyd; and two brothers, Archer Gay Stotts of Oklahoma City and Charles O. Stotts of Little Rock, Ark.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Mervin J. Boyd; brother, Stan Stotts and wife Bobbie of Oklahoma City; children, Ramona Marie Riley and husband Mike of Mustang, Okla., Beverly Kerr and husband Steve of Oklahoma City, Melinda McMichael and husband Jimmy of Oklahoma City, and Dennis Boyd and wife Ruby of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Lois Huddlestun and brother-in-law Pete Boyd, both of Wichita, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

She and Merv were residents of Norman, Okla., for many years before they moved to Bella Vista 20 years ago. There will be two memorial services held — 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista; and then at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Town & Country Christian Church, 2200 Cornwell Dr., Yukon, Okla., where they were former members.
