Crivello has over 35 years’ experience in civil engineering and land survey, he said.

“I worked for a company called APAC-Central here in Northwest Arkansas for eight-and-a-half years,” he said.

“I’ve done numerous jobs with the state,” he added. “I’ve worked hand-in-hand with the AHTD (Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department).”

He was involved with developments on U.S. Highway 71 — now Interstate 49 — he said, as well as U.S. Highway 71 Business, and he was involved in the widening of U.S. Highway 412 from Tontitown to Siloam Springs.

He’s also governed inventory for six quarries in Benton and Washington counties.

Crivello said he’s also been involved in Bella Vista specifically — he’s volunteered with the Children’s Christmas Festival and Bella Vista Hay Days and worked on the street committee.

“I spent approximately two years on the street committee,” he said. “I helped former mayor Frank Anderson pursue his dreams in building the Street Department.

“To be heard and say ‘we can’t sit on our hands,’” Leffler said. “We need a new Bella Vista, not the old Cooper development.”

“Socially, we’re pretty involved out here,” he said, “so I hear a lot of these complaints. I don’t like to sit back and do nothing.”

“My format is really to get this place back on track,” he said. “It just keeps deteriorating. We’ve got to just do a facelift out here.”

“Everything is still here,” he said, “but the idea is to bring it all up.”

“The city can do stuff,” he said. “I think they’ve got to reinvent and reinvest if we want to go anywhere.” • Leffler said he spent 40 years working in sales for the food industry, where he handled wholesale operations focused on bringing food to high-end restaurants.

He said he believes the Highlands area has been neglected by City Hall, and that he would be able to represent the area and its concerns effectively.

“Out here,” he said, “I think they want to put the cart before the horse. I think we have been neglected out here because we’re so far out.”
