The Bella Vista Friends of the Library is currently holding a half-price sale in The Encore! Book sale room. Every book is half off. This sale ends Oct. 22. There will also be a sidewalk sale at Allen’s grocery store from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 22. This sale includes 25cent books (fill a bag for $2.50) or 50-cent books (fill a bag for $5). All proceeds go to the library expansion project.

Thursday, Oct. 20

The Artist Retreat Center presents a performanc­e by Wes McGee. Making guitar music led to his interest in building guitars and working with a master luthier in Oklahoma City while attending college. McGee’s love for music has inspired him to share with others, and now he teachers music and builds and repairs instrument­s profession­ally. Friday, Oct. 21

The Northwest Arkansas Sacred Harp Singers will hold a shape-note singing school at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The singing school will be followed with an old-fashioned singing convention, Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Northwest Technical Institute student center at 709 S. Old Missouri Road in Springdale. A potluck dinner will be served at noon. All activities are free. Registrati­on is not required. The Shiloh Museum is located at 118 W. Pineville/Jane American Legion Post 392 will be having their Third Friday benefit dinner starting at 4:30 p.m. The dinner will be prepared by the Ladies Auxiliary and will feature pork tenderloin, salad, vegetable, potatoes, rolls, dessert, and drinks. A donation of $7 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under is requested. Everyone is welcome, and carry-outs are available. The Legion building is located on Jessie James Rd. next to the Cornerston­e Bank in Pineville, Mo.

Saturday, Oct. 22

The Family Fall Festival will be held at the Bella Vista Church of the Nazarene, 760 W. Lancaster Blvd., from 4 to 7 p.m. Fun for the whole family includes hayrides, Trunk or Treat, face painting, outdoor games, food and more. This event is free, and everyone is welcome. Ken Bonfield and Steve Davison will rekindle their national touring under the banner “Artistry of the Guitar” at 7:30 p.m. at the Artist Retreat Center. This is an in-theround musical evening with the art- ists playing solos and duets while on stage together. The music will be far-ranging, from Celtic to classical, including blues, folk, country and some good, ol’ Travis thumbstyle fingerpick­ing. As always, they will be played on some amazing instrument­s: Bonfield’s Alan Carruth 11-string harp guitar, high-string and baritone guitar, and Davison’s Tony Yamamoto 12-string and his Sheldon Schwartz Oracle. The Accident School reunion will be held at 11 a.m. at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. Accident was a rural school located northeast of Springdale; classes were held there from the 1870s until consolidat­ion with Springdale in 1949. All former Accident School students, teachers, family and friends are invited. The museum is located at 118 W. Johnson Avenue in downtown Springdale. Friday, Oct. 28

The Bella Vista Assembly of God Church will host its annual Chili and Potato Soup Dinner. Lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and dinner will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The menu includes chili, potato soup, salad, dessert and a beverage. The cost is $7.50 for adults and $3 for children between the ages of 5 and 12. There is no cost for children 4 and younger. Tickets are available at the church office in the administra­tion building, south of the parking lot, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, at any of the banks on the corner of Arkansas Highways 279 and 340, or at the door. Proceeds will be used to support mission programs through the year. Bella Vista Assembly of God is located at 1771 Forest Hills Blvd., across from the Highlands Post Office.

Church Women United will present the World Community Day celebratio­n at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Rd., Bella Vista. Refreshmen­ts will be served at 9:30 a.m. and the program begins at 10. Pastor Dawn Donato from Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bentonvill­e will speak about “Canopy,” an organizati­on working to place refugees in Northwest Arkansas.
